The hardest part about replacing the steering stem bearings on a KLR650 is removing the outer races from the stem sleeve. And the most difficult outer race to remove is the lower race. What makes it especially difficult is the the lip of the race is recessed and can not be accessed using a punch from above. A special tool can be purchased to make this much easier but it costs about $85 and must be ordered. I was too impatient and cheap for this. I went to Sears and bought a 17" Craftsman pry bar (pictured above).
